NFL Playoffs Boost Value of Top Quarterbacks’ Rookie Cards

As the NFL playoffs progress and the final four quarterbacks battle it out on the field, their rookie cards are also making waves in the world of sports memorabilia. Collectors and fans alike are showing increased interest in these rare cards, leading to a surge in online auction values. The quarterbacks in the spotlight are Patrick Mahomes II from Kansas City, Brock Purdy from San Francisco, Lamar Jackson from Baltimore, and Jared Goff from Detroit.

In the AFC Championship game, fans are treated to a thrilling matchup between Mahomes, a two-time Super Bowl champion and Jackson, the leading candidate for the 2023 NFL MVP award. On the other side, the NFC championship showcases Purdy and Goff, both impressive in their passing stats, with Purdy ranking third and Goff ranking fourth in passing touchdowns.

In the world of sports collectibles, these four quarterbacks’ rookie cards have captured the attention of collectors, leading to high bids on popular platforms like eBay. Notable sales include an autographed 2017 Panini National Treasures Black card of Patrick Mahomes, which sold for an impressive $19,300 on 62 bids. Another sought-after Mahomes item, a signed 2017 Panini Contenders Rookie Ticket card graded BGS 9.5, fetched $16,577 from 51 bids.

Brock Purdy’s rookie cards have also gained significant value in recent auctions. A standout item is his 2022 Playoff Contenders signed Rookie Ticket “Cracked Ice” variation, graded PSA 10 and one of only 22 ever made, which sold for an impressive $10,268 on 27 bids. This follows a trend of Purdy’s rookie cards selling for over $10,000, such as a 2022 National Treasures signed patch card graded PSA 9, which garnered an impressive $15,000 on 53 bids.

Lamar Jackson’s rookie cards have seen significant action as well, with a Gem-Mint 2018 Panini Prizm Black Finite card fetching an astonishing $51,100 on 76 bids. Another highly sought-after Jackson item is a 2018 National Treasures autographed patch card numbered #27/99 and graded BGS 9.5, which sold for $18,000 on 39 bids.

Despite a mixed start with the Rams and subsequent improvement since joining the Lions, Jared Goff’s cards are also seeing growing interest. A 2019 Panini Absolute Kaboom! card, a gold variation marked #6/10, went for a respectable $3,049 on 50 bids. Additionally, a 2016 Donruss Optic Gold Prizm rookie card marked #2/10 and graded BGS 10 sold for $2,950 on 32 bids.

The excitement of the NFL playoffs is not limited to the field alone. In the sports memorabilia market, the rookie cards of these top quarterbacks are proving to be both valuable and sought-after items. As the playoffs continue, collectors and fans will be watching closely, eager to see how the performances of these quarterbacks impact the value of their rookie cards in the auction market.
